The Artisans

Today, Alvaevelinne works with twelve master craftspeople, each bringing decades of experience to their work. These artisans come from families that have been working with leather for generations, passing down techniques and secrets that cannot be learned from books or videos.

Our artisans work in small ateliers scattered throughout the Italian countryside, each specializing in different aspects of glove-making. Some are experts in pattern-cutting, others in stitching, and still others in the final finishing that gives our gloves their distinctive character. Together, they form a community dedicated to preserving a precious heritage.

Materials and Craftsmanship

We source our leather from the finest tanneries in Italy, selecting only hides that meet our exacting standards. We work primarily with lambskin and kidskin, prized for their exceptional softness and durability. Each hide is inspected by hand, with only the finest sections selected for use in our gloves.

The creation of a single pair of Alvaevelinne gloves involves over 200 individual steps, many of them performed entirely by hand. Our artisans use techniques that have remained largely unchanged for centuries, from the careful stretching of the leather to the precise placement of each stitch.

Sustainability and Ethics

We believe that true luxury must also be responsible luxury. We are committed to sustainable practices throughout our supply chain, from the sourcing of our materials to the packaging of our products. We work only with tanneries that meet strict environmental standards, and we use minimal, recyclable packaging for all shipments.

We also believe in fair compensation for our artisans. Each person who contributes to the creation of our gloves receives a fair wage and works in safe, comfortable conditions. We see this not as a choice but as a fundamental obligation.
